Transylvania!

Here I am in the land of vampires... well, according to Stoker anyways, and the people here are milking it for all it's worth! We went to a little souvenir shop in downtown Brasov and you can buy anything and everything with dear old Vlad's effigy. But with all its touristy kitsh, Brasov does have an eerie feeling to it, especially when it's overcast. Yesterday afternoon, I went out to buy some groceries (we found this great guesthouse: it's an annex to a house, with two rooms, a kitchen and a living room, and we're the only guests!) and I got lost trying to find the store. Then it started to pour rain, torrents were flowing in the streets, I was drenched, it was great! The architecture also adds to the feel of the place. I'll let Nick's pictures (eventually) do the explaining.

Because of Nick's (Canadian Nick, not Romanian Nick) illness, I wasn't able to see a show in Bucharest, since our hotel was too far from the centre for me to walk alone at night. But tonight, we're planning to go to the Black Church to listen to some organ music, and apparently, the concert scene is very good in Budapest. I just hope nothing will get in our way this time!
